We’ve been so flat-out since, I haven’t even had time to blog this summary of the big event!
Last week, Monday 20th August, the Bells N Whistles team held our very first Secrets From The Little Blue Book event (or “LBB” for short). We spent all day setting up at the venue, including bringing in some choice pieces of furniture from our office meeting room.
We also had our suppliers “bumping in” throughout the day, starting with Decorative Events who created a magical display of draping, chandeliers, table setup and furniture; they were in around midday to begin their setup.
Later our signage arrived and we were up on ladders putting the signs up around the room and the rest of the venue.
Slowly, the room came together and we started to feel that buzz of a big event…just like when we setup for a wedding. We love that buzz, that chaotic rush to finish on time, the excitement in the air!
6pm – Doors open
We had brides and grooms, brides and their bridesmaids, their mums and friends walking through the door. First stop, a drink from the waiter. The couples made their way around the room, talking with vendors, drinking, eating, having a chat, and enjoying the live entertainment—we had a band as well as a string ensemble.
Every now and then, couples were jumping in the photobooth for a photo and a giggle.
Grooms getting into it
We setup a “man corner” so that grooms could escape all the wedding talk when it got too much. But our man corner was deserted, no men sitting in there bored…they were mingling with vendors and having a good time *gasp* who would have thought?! Next time we’ll have less man corner and more fun stuff! One groom told us, as he and his fiance were walking out, that he feels a bit more connected to the wedding now and wants to more involved in the planning. I think my heart skipped a beat; that was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever heard!
Around 9pm, things started to slow, with couples leaving to go home with smiles and their little planning notebooks. We pack up and by 11pm, we’re in our cars driving home; still buzzing after such a great evening!
